Hirokaisen – A High School Student & Tiktoker, Now a Part-Time Streamer

Tell us your history with video games in general

First time I ever played any type of video games was when I was in middle school. My dad loves to play video games and he loved this game called Gears of War on the XBOX. One day he let me play and it got me hooked and that’s when I fell in love with playing video games. Growing up I played video games with the randoms that I met online. I never really played with my friends I went to school with. Now I don’t play with them at all. It's actually the opposite I play with my friends I hang out with in real life.

My first ever username was KaiCos46 which stands for the first 3 letters of my first and last name. The 46 part was just an add on my dad gave me since his XBOX name was the46. My passion for gaming was sparked after playing Halo Reach. That game was my whole life when it first came out, and now I just play a lot of games.

What’s your backstory and how did you get into streaming?

I started my social media career on other platforms like Tiktok, Instagram, and Snapchat doing lots of funny and stupid bits and content. I never was really big into streaming, but one day my manager was like do you game and I was like yeah and he was like okay just stream while you game since you don’t go live that much. So then yeah I had fun with it and I just kept streaming since then. Streaming is fun I do it everyday I enjoy it a lot it’s a great way to hang with my supporters while playing games with my friends.

Tell us about your channel and community

My community is pretty dope, they’re really funny and cool to talk and I know most of them through just talking to all of them a lot on a daily basis. When it comes to new viewers I don’t think they act a different way they are the same which is really cool. When it comes to streaming I stream a variety of games from Roblox, Valorant, CSGO, and Minecraft. If I wasn’t streaming I would definitely still be playing the same games I stream since I play the games that I enjoy and then play games the viewers want to see when I’m not in the mood to play my favorite games. I play with my viewers sometimes. I played Fortnite and Among Us with my viewers because I thought it would be fun.

Tell us about your brand and how you’ve been able to obtain success

When I started I always made content that I enjoyed because it would also make me laugh. I’ve never changed since doing that and I’ve always been true to myself and the same to my viewers. My brand was created with me and a couple of my friends. We all created a brand together about ourselves and to this day it’s been like that. Now I’m just trying to grow a piece of that brand which is myself because I enjoy this and I want more people to enjoy watching me stream.

I grew my channel by just being active a lot and just dealing with all the hate just by continuously posting. That’s what got me to how big I am now which is really crazy. The biggest challenges I face were just my motivation and how productive I could be in a day which I still face today. It’s hard to overcome but I just do this by trying to get out of a routine and doing my own thing and have fun.

How do you balance streaming and life in general?

Everyday I stream around night time for like an hour or so. Before streaming I have to post on other social media platforms. Also, I’m still a highschool student so I also have to attend classes and do homework afterwards. After streaming, I chill on Discord with my friends a little more and then just head to bed. My days off are usually the same as the day I stream, but I only take off if I’m feeling off and just am too lazy to stream. I actually do both since I get recognized sometimes, so I do get to see people face to face including my friends and I get to talk to my supporters while streaming and online. They always knew I like to game and they already knew I had a platform, so they just encouraged me to stream and have fun with it and try to increase my platform. Right now, I don’t see this as a maintainable lifestyle, but I will be doing this a lot and hopefully I start to gain loads of new viewers who can watch my stream and enjoy the stream with me.

Tell us what tools you use for your stream

I’m not really sure how all of that stream extensions all work because I’m very dumb when it comes to streaming. However, my manager helped me set up a donation software, OBS software, and loads of overlays which I bought. When it comes to streaming I recommend buying overlays or creating them and make sure to have all of your notifications on stream. I also recommend using a good streaming software that is relatively easy to understand and be able to handle by yourself when trying to do things.

What are your top 3 streaming tools?

My top 3 streaming tools is the notifications and overlays I have set up, the setup I use because I really love it, and the software I use.

What advice would you give to small channels trying to reach Partner?

Keep streaming continuously and be able to talk to your chat all the time. Make sure to not be too focused on the game and try to make time to individually interact with your supporters.

If you could change one thing about Twitch, what would it be?

I’d probably change the whole aspect on how viewers get to find new streamers. Usually people just click random streams based on the game they like. I feel like they should change that up and make it better for the people who use small streaming platforms to get the benefit of the doubt. For the streamers who are big they automatically get placed above everyone in the recommendations on who to join on the certain game you want to watch.
